Here is a List of Equipment I Cannot Repair
Anything is repairable, of course. When I say 'cannot' I really mean either I do not enjoy this type of repair, or it is prohibitively expensive for you.
- Anything with a switchmode power supply in it, if that power supply is faulty.
- Mixers. I will repair a mixer with an obvious fault and I'm certainly happy to take a look and give you my opinion. But mixers are really time-consuming due to the large number of controls and so the repair cost can mount up. Many of them are also relatively cheaply made and once they start to go wrong it is often best to buy a new one. A lot depends on the make and the fault. Give me a call or email to discuss.
- Anything made by HK Audio or Mackie. Nightmare gear - almost impossible to repair and it goes wrong surprisingly often considering the cost of it. If it's just a blown speaker then of course that can be done. For amplifier problems on this equipment I recommend Surrey Amps and also Cimple Solutions who I have used several times. They specialise in this equipment. Prepare to pay though!
- Be aware that a lot of very modern (and cheap) equipment uses surface mount technology which makes repairs almost impossible.
